Students at Divine CNA Training will have the following objectives/guidelines while attending their CNA program here at Divine CNA Training. Participants who successfully complete the course will meet criteria to sit for the state certification examination. The course includes 35 hours of classroom participation and 50 hours of clinical experience including 7 hours of HIV/AIDS education and 3 hours of cardio pulmonary resuscitation. During the 35 hours of class room experience and about 50 hours of clinical at a facility, the students should be able to:

• Demonstrate effectively and efficiently infection control practices
• Administer and safely meet basic personal care needs of the patients
• Promote quality of life
• Recognized signs of abuse, negligent, abandonment, and financial exploitation.
• Demonstrate loving care and Patient centered Care approaches
Discuss safe alternatives to restrains
• Maintain confidentiality
• Demonstrate understanding of medicals terms and abbreviations
• Obtain BLS certification with American Heart Association
• Discuss the role of CNA in skin care with focus on prevention of complications
• Competently perform vital signs.
• Demonstrate knowledge of pain management.
• Utilize proper body mechanics to promote safety and prevent injury.
• Properly demonstrate use of assistive, orthotic and prosthetic devices.
• Document in clinical record.
• Discuss functions associated with body systems in regard to disease management and the aging process.
• Identify importance of nutrition, demonstrate feeding techniques and incorporate strategies for promoting good dietary health.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the dying process in caring for the terminal patient.
• Discuss care of the pre- and post-operative patient.
• Communicate effectively with staff, patient and family
• Be aware of the patient bill of rights.
• Provide individualize care based on cultural, physical, and psychological traits.
• Assist the client in the home environment with personal care services including personal hygiene, self-care activities such as bathing, dressing and feeding, and assisting with mobility
• Assist the client with cleaning and care tasks such as home safety measures, the use of cleaning materials, maintenance of cleanliness in the kitchen, general cleanliness in the home environment, and the handling of dishes and laundry
• State an understanding of nutrition concepts including the basic principles of diet, meal planning and serving, and food purchasing, preparation, sanitation and storage.

Required Items for the NA-C Program
• Wrist watch that counts seconds
• Non-latex gloves
• Gait Belt
• Navy blue scrub uniform for clinical
• Closed toe comfortable shoes
• 2-Step TB Testing (must be complete before you go to clinical)
