ABOUT DUNGENESS COURTE

Dungeness Courte Memory Care has been open since August 2, 1999 and we proudly service the community providing excellence in dementia care. We provide a friendly, home-like setting for our residents and their families. Health care is integrated into the daily routine allowing residents to have the support they need without focusing extensively on nursing services.

Freedom of movement and choice are the cornerstones of our innovative programming. Experienced staff members carefully assess the needs of each person and design individualized care plans identifying the help needed, while maintaining independence as much as possible. Our staff takes the time to learn important lifestyle routines for each resident. Knowing details like food preferences, favorite activities and typical sleeping patterns helps us to emphasize people's strengths and capabilities.

Family is an integral part of our community, providing us with the history that helps us weave life patterns into the care plan. When you place your loved one with us we will take care of their needs and you can just enjoy their company. Families are welcome to visit and encouraged to participate in whatever activities are happening.

TESTIMONIAL

Letter from a daughter of a Dungeness Courte resident:

To the Angels at Dungeness Courte,

I am writing this letter because I want the people at Dungeness Courte (DC) to know they are appreciated by me, my siblings and especially by my mother. My mom’s journey to DC may not be that unlike many of your other residents. However, I can speak only to hers and my experience with all of you.

I remember the day we brought her to DC. She was so angry and confused. In the two years preceding that day she had moved from her home of 50 years into her first assisted living home, then her second, then the nursing home and finally made her way to you. On that day, the staff at DC demonstrated the skills I had hungered to see and frankly did not know existed. I have since learned so much about my mother’s disease, both through personal research, personal experience with my mom and time spent with the staff while educating my family. The entire staff at DC have been teachers as well.

My mother has her favorites, which I imagine is not unusual. However, I would be hard pressed to single out one person that has done more or less to positively impact her life and mine by default. The admissions director pulled herself out of her garden on a holiday when we called almost two years ago in search of a home for mom. The program director seems to delight in her work and said ‘You call this work?’ when I spoke with her on Christmas Day. Everyone always seems to be having fun too. The staff make my mom's room 'homey' not to mention functional. I can always count on a ready smile when I walk through the door and a friendly voice on the other end of the phone. My mom has adopted one of the staff as her new daughter and truly misses her on her days off. The staff's knowledge, wisdom and compassion are demonstrated every time I walk through the door at DC. There are other angels whose faces I know, but names I have forgotten, but they know who they are. The staff at DC are special, not just good at what they do, but exceptional.

Thank you for making this part of my mother's life journey as good as it can be.

Warmly,

— Daughter of Resident
